Mar 12, 2011 - Kitty Colored

I have been knocking work out like crazy these past few weeks and was able to make some time this afternoon to do a quick color on my Kitty Pryde piece. Hope you like it. :)

Feb 21, 2011 - Happy Birthday to me! (actually my birthday is on the 19th but I didn't have any art to post until now hehe) :)

So this weekend was my birthday and I had a great time. Nathan took me to Medieval times and I got drunk and acted like a fool cheering on my knight (go Red Knight!). The only people it seemed to bother was the couple sitting next to me, but you know what... it was fun and I was just getting into the spirit.

I had given myself the whole weekend off from my usual work because a) I needed a break and b) I wanted to sketch my own stuff. Yesteday I did a lot of prelim sketches... stick figures in different poses for future use and other general ideas that I had and wanted to get down on paper. I did manage to flesh out one whole sketch though. It started out with the idea of a girl moving the hair out of her face and turned into a cute Kitty Pryde.

I decided to take my time (I had all day after all) and really work on fleshing out the piece. I always rush the little things and leave a lot out because I usually color my sketches and finish the details during that phase. But the whole idea of this piece centered around her hair and I decided to detail it as much as possible. So here it is.

Jan 31, 2011 - I'm Back!!!

I'm done with my big coloring project and ready to get back to it! :-D

I know.. it's been a long time since I posted any of my own drawings. We can pretty much agree that the sketch a day resolution of mine is broken hehe. But I think I'll continue with the spirit of the endeavor which is to draw as much as I can and to try things I've never done before in order to become a better artist. Hell all the sketching I've done this month (minus the 2 weeks I was coloring sequential pages night and day) is more than I remember doing last year. Hence the resolution.

With this piece I wanted to try drawing someone at a downward angle which of course meant dealing with foreshortening. I really need to spend more time practicing foreshortening. The piece looks good, but I feel like it could be better.

The character's name is Gospel and she is a member of Drumfish Production's hero group: Sentinels

As you can see, I put a lot more time into the details because a) I had the time to do that today and b) I really want to color it. I don't know when I'll be able to color it but man am I looking forward to that hehe.

Jan 10-19, 2011 - /sigh

Well it has been over a week since I sketched. While I have been really good about sticking to my diet (I lost 9 lbs so far) I have been terrible about trying to keep my resolution to sketch everyday.

I have several projects on my plate right now. Nathan suggested I post something... even if its my color work rather than my sketching. A lot of what I have been working on I cannot post, but I do have a few commissions I can post just to show that I have been doing something. :)

The book I am working on right now promises to keep be busy until the end of the month. My hope is that once I am done with it my time will free up and I will be able to make up for all the lost sketching. Until then, here are a few of my recent color works.

Jan 9, 2011 - The Feet

Today I managed to catch up on a lot of things. It also snowed for like 30 minutes this morning! Sorry, I live in Texas so snow here is always something to be excited about. :)

After finishing up my work I did a study on the feet. I am not used to drawing feet at all... hell even when I draw shoes or boots they pretty much just end up looking like blocks. So I took my time and I think I managed to do a decent job.
